DIY Gift Idea - For Everyone!

Hey, y'all! I'm back again with another quick craft/DIY project!

Today is my Dad's birthday (whoop whoop!) My dad has such a big heart and takes care of my family everyday. He is always in the most happy mood and is so excited to see everyone when he gets home from work, it's one of my favorite parts of the day! I wanted to do something special for him today because after all, he does so much for us 24/7 365! Naturally, I gravitated towards a crafty project and got to thinking. My dad is extremely creative when it comes to our birthdays, so I knew I had to spice up his present this year!

The idea came to me all at once- why not take some fun photos of my siblings and I as if we are celebrating my dad? Then I could frame it for him! I thought this would be fun to do because a photo can be displayed forever, anywhere! What I really wanted to capture in this gift is that we celebrate him all year long, & I know that by hanging up this piece, he'll be reminded daily of the love we have for him! Here's what it looks like:

Something that I wanted to mention is that this would be a fantastic gift for anyone! You can easily make this gift for parents or extended family! Be creative with it.

To get started, I went out and bought the frame. I was browsing at Ross, and I saw this shadow box type of frame. I thought it was unique, so I went for it! Inside the shadow box, it has little clips on a line that you can use to hold your photos in place, then slip the back onto it to seal the frame. A regular collage type of frame would work perfectly, too! I just happened to see this one for $10 and couldn't resist. Unfortunately I can't link this one for y'all, so sorry!

The next step was to create the photos (the fun part)! I found a few props at Party City, but as always feel free to go wherever you want! I bought some balloons and party blowers, and found a few things around the house that would work perfectly for this. This is really the part where you can get super creative with your project. Think about who the gift is for, then focus on what you know about them, their hobbies and interests, favorite foods, etc. Make a small list! Now, when you're picking your poses for the photos, try to incorporate some of those ideas into them!

My dad loves super hero movies, comics, and dancing when there's music on! So, I tried to insert a few of these things into my project. I found a speech bubble prop (similar to ones in comics), and used Adobe Spark Post (super user friendly!) to apply extra icons and text into the photos to personalize it more! If you've never used Adobe Spark Post, no problem! Their website makes it quick and easy to create graphics of all kinds. I was able to upload the pictures of my siblings and add in everything you see in white onto the photos (confetti, superheros, cake, and dancing people).

Boom, your pictures are finished and you're ready to print! You can upload your photos to print at a local store, or print from home if you have a printer. Now all that's left to do is place the finished photos into the frame and wrap!

There really is a ton that you can do with this project, the options are endless! Make it your own and remember to add in things that you know that person loves! They can hang it wherever they'll see it and they'll always remember how thoughtful of a gift this was. To me, these kinds of gifts are priceless.

Just for fun:

I thought I'd share a quick vid of me making my dad's birthday card! By no means am I professional when it comes to calligraphy and lettering, But, I gave it my best shot and I love the finished product! It's just something fun that any Texan will love to see on their special day!

Thanks for reading everyone! I'd love to hear any thoughts you have or see any of y'all's work!!

Xoxo, Tiffany
